Fourteen US SPACE HEROES "Astronaut On Moon" Made In Hong Kong: Mint On Card (No.2)

"Mint On Card #2, 1968"
Digital Image, no fixed dimension.

I need crappier fonts and cheesier color. Mockup demonstration of a combine painting I want to see, estimated size would be 32x40 or so. Misspelled "Ossining" (d'oh) but then again it's meant to suggest a design by some guy over in Hong Kong from 1972. Circle in the middle of the top is meant to suggest a hole punch for a display rack. "Future Management" is a fictional business I invented and refers to a song by Queen drummer Roger Taylor from his 1981 "Fun In Space" album. "Babs & Babs" is a song by Robert Fripp + Daryl Hall from their 1977 "Sacred Songs" collaboration, sounds like the name of a closeout store. "515" is a song by The Who from "Quadrophenia" and along with "Number Nine" is my favorite number to utilize when needing a cool number. "Hand Painted By Real Artist" is from a Marx windowboxed "Lunar Exploration" set. The "US Space Heroes" is one of the names Payton Products used for their bagged sets of two inch MPC spaceman copies.

Working on additional moonscapes for other backing cards, and formulating how to make painted wall boxes for individual figures to be housed within. I don't want to just show them loose on a table and do want viewers to choose an astronaut for their very own.

Golden Astronaut "Moon Prospector" Vehicle aka Triang Spacex "Explorer MEV2" with GRABBER ARM! Mint On Card

Bitchin'. That's just awesome, even the price tag rules. And if my understanding of how the units were packaged is correct the framing piece around the blister window indicates an original first-run.

You would get out of its way.

Golden Astronaut has no markings on his base and is cast in an MPC "Pistol and Lunch Box" pose reduced to GA size, which is fascinating.

Click here for the Sx/GA website's guide to the Golden Astronaut figures, which were all made by LP Toys in Hong Kong even if the pose is germane to MPC's spacemen rather then LP's. And unless I be mistaken, since it's a reduction in size it didn't come out of an MPC mould. They cast that from scratch.

Compared with my carded Spacex "Explorer MEV2", with its orange wheels and blue arm. Note disconnected antenna piece sealed under the blister ... Must have been a long day at the plant over there in Hong Kong. What's a Spacex Error Car worth?

Had scored the GA variant with the intention of opening either and now can't bring myself to do it ... A third?? Sheesh.

Temporary Ogle Wall position while awaiting polybagging and re-arrangement of display to fit it in place with the other carded GA scores. Silvery spaceman next to him just ID'd as a British made Tudor Rose figure. Never knew I had one! and am offing him to another collector who specializes in the form. Already got my eye on a six inch Marx astronaut with the flag & consider it an even trade.

Join up! Talked to my man Charlie Sam about getting this onto a t-shirt, am thinking it will be in white on a black shirt above the left breast. Contemplating it being on a pocket of a pocket t-shirt as well -- It'll be cool or I won't wear it.

Random New Old Stock Plastic Space "Rack Toys": PLONG! Jean Hoefler Astronauts, Hong Kong Spacemen, Vintage Parachuting Astronaut

Yeah ... this was a good Saturday. And none of these cost all that much. I'm not interested in the tin lithograph clockwork ejection module firing Yonezawa classics. Maybe someday, but my interest is in plastics, rack toys, Made in Hong Kong, and the Golden Astronaut legacy.

Made in West Germany somewhere's between 1968 and 1975. Interesting packaging concept in that there were six different backgrounds, and by piecing them together the collector could amass a little diorama set.

Plug-Head Pod-Foot "Swoppet" style spacemen, with a 1978 date helpfully included on the backing card.

I want to open this up soo bad.

Forms by Marx, likely cast by Multiple Toymakers, no date but likely 1970 - 1975 or so just based on the typesetting.

All marked Made In Hong Kong. So they are bootlegged Marx guys.

Would like to pay a visit to this "Odd-Lot" ...

There's more ...
