Marx Toys "Operation Moon Base" Moon Tanker Vehicle + 5" MPC Space Figures and Two "Cracker Jacks" Spaceman Prizes

Been working on our late summer exhibit at the gallery I manage for The Tech Garden in downtown Syracuse NY, opening this Thursday from 5pm to 7pm ... Still corralling last minute replacements after two dropouts and there's not been much attention to spare for other things. Though I did adapt current form to make a show announcement poster rather than paint some corny image of a night scene with moon. This is cool, and serves as the first official overture for the upcoming Toys As Art exhibit in the spring.

Figure by Palmer, spaceships by Bruder, and the title of the pix was "The Survivor".

But these babies turned up on Saturday and it was a welcome goodiefest -- Will take a closer look at the figures + do a comparison of the tank with the "Operation Moon Base" Prime Mover vehicle which had already graced my Marx Box. I make note on the video & will repeat again: There is something different about the figure with both hands in the air. Not sure how else to describe it: Maybe sculpted by a different artist? Or part of a different design objective? We'll take a closer look after the gallery is all set. Gotta bring home the bacon.

Smaller white figures were Cracker Jacks prizes, each with a hole in their back to which they can be attached to a structure to float in midair simulating zero gravity. Had never seen the forms before and am an instant fan.

Sexy. Very hard plastic with a "waxy" luster to it. Only moving parts are the vestigial wheels applied to the bottom, and their only useful purpose to possibly reduce drag friction on the bottom of the tank treads.

Bitchin'. Yeah I wanted that.

No Marx markings anywhere, same as the Prime Mover and Space Capsule.

Bez from Happy Mondays, driving the Operation Moon Base Liquids Transporter. I'd watch that show every week.

About time to do an "Operation Moon Base" loose component headcount -- I think counting figures I now have upwards forty of the pieces. Though it's that last forty-five (and the box) that will be the nut buster. Not yet prepared to be competitive in acquisitions on such scales yet, and will settle on either of the two other Space Tanks made for the set next. Or that exploding mountain -- Now that I gotta see.
