"Cocomalt" 1933 Buck Rogers Cutout Book Page with Art Deco Space Art

Spent the last two weeks waylaid with an impressive little upper respiratory infection. Non-Covid but it sucked hard enough to re-inforce quarantine protocol for the rest of this winter. Even when vaccinated we aren't hurrying off to do shopping or much of anything involving mingling with the herd, until it can be outside. The rest of the winter will pass quickly, and I found this to contemplate for inspiration:

Ebay find, not my collection. Described as a page from a 1933 Buck Rogers cutout book offered as a premium by drink mix maker "Cocomalt". Opening bid price was beyond anything I can muster even without a pandemic so I cribbed the image to study & learn from. My curator's eye remarks on its striking use of color and the faux forced perspective of the line of figures + objects at bottom. That's pretty cool! and the use of spaceships flying over an arte moderne city brings the graphics used by T. Cohn / Superior for the Lido Captain Video Space Port set. Would not be surprised to learn it's by the same designer.

New goodies incoming and I did get some space figures painted, will post as time permits, and please do stay safe out there!
